Happy Valentine's Day!
Not doing anything special this year (which is the norm!) but I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow, so I'll probably be packing. Just hoping the weather holds so I have no trouble getting there. This is going to be the first vacation I've had since I've been married that didn't include my kids, my husband or my Mom. I'm taking the bus, it should be interesting! I'm actually looking forward to the ride, sitting back and relaxing with my book and my laptop. I'm hoping to get alot of work done. Plus, spending a few days with my BFF who I haven't seen in a couple of years plus a friend I haven't seen in almost 30 years is going to be the best!

Slightly Amused Random Thought
Tuesday, Valentine's Day, I was stocking shelves at work and had plenty of time to think. My thoughts at that time were reflections on how many Valentine's Days I have had with my husband. And then I realized it was the 25th anniversary of when he left his ex (girlfriend, not wife, that is). Yes, he left her on Valentine's Day. His girlfriend and I were drinking buddies at the time and she later encouraged me to pursue him, so I guess that shows it was an amicable break-up! But now I wonder if maybe that is why he has a tendency to ignore Valentine's Day!

Isn't It Romantic!
My marriage has never been romantic. The closest thing I got to a marriage proposal was "when are we getting married" while we were watching an episode of The Brady Bunch in which some Brady sibling was getting married. I think it must have been one of the movies they made several years after the show ended. I informed him I required flowers when our daughter was born. I forgot to remind him of that when our son was born 2 1/2 years later, resulting in no flowers. Last year's flowers were totally unexpected. Last week he asked if I required a gift this year. I told him no, I was just as happy with acknowledgement. Guess what I found in my e-mail! And yes, I do find it funny. So much so, I sent him one back! Happy Valentine's Day, all!

Valentine's Day
My husband and I have been married for almost 23 years. It was never a great romance, more like something that just happened. Like all relationships, it's had it's ups and downs. It seems lately like there has been more downs. Last year I wasn't sure we were still going to be together much longer. But we have "made it through" again. Valentine's Day has never been a big deal around here--not because I didn't want it that way, but because no one else participated much. But this year I got a big surprise with tea roses! I really can't explain how much that means to me, coming from a man who has never given me flowers before! He has always remembered our Anniversary and he makes a big deal out of Christmas, but V-Day and my Birthday have always just been another day to him. I had already decided to "recommit" myself to this relationship. I guess this means he has too. That's the best present, I suppose!

Happy V-Day!

Valentine's Day has never been a big deal around here, not because I didn't want to but because my husband isn't particularly romantic and finds it all a bit silly. I guess after 20 years I know not to expect anything. So I was a bit surprised when he actually suggested we go out to eat today! I think it's just because this is the first Saturday he hasn't had to work since he started his new job in December! I'm not picky--I'll take him up on it!
I got told at work they expected cookies, so they got cookies!
