Solar Eclipse '17

The "epicenter" of yesterday's eclipse is about 100 miles south of where I live and we were told we would have about 97% totality. Which I thought would make it much darker here than it really got. The streetlights uptown came on, though. And my cats sat in the window with their ears back and the cicadas got really loud, so that happened.
Things got interesting a few hours later when the "eclipse traffic" was heading back north! We live on the Interstate and traffic was so heavy (and apparently there was an accident somewhere) that they were getting off and taking the local 2-lane highways. I stayed home all evening, but I heard the south end of town was a total mess!

"What The F*ck Is Going On?"

It's all too much sometimes, what is going on in this country right now. So I find myself barely skimming the news, trying to distance myself a bit from social media because some of my friends and family TOTALLY BLOW MY MIND! Wow, not sure where that came from. Except, I think we're all going through it, aren't we? I've just about given up trying to explain things to them. Okay, not really. The FB rants will continue--I simply can't help myself. Anyway, I ordered a Coexist T-shirt and it came today. Can't wait to wear it to work! (Thank goodness my boss is a Democrat--and my cousin. I get away with things that I probably shouldn't be able to!) So, let's all take a deep breath and tune in for the next episode of "What The F*ck Is Going On?"

And for fun:

In a Heartbeat - Animated Short Film

This has been all over every social media site I follow for the last few days, so I'd be really surprised if you haven't seen it yet. But I'm going to post it, anyway, just because it's so sweet and deserves all the love!

Free Entertainment

I love my back yard. It's fenced in on two sides with the garage on the other side, so it's rather private. And since I like to plant things, it's rather green. And I have a tame squirrel. He's very good entertainment for Pip and Squirt!
With the (momentary) return of beautiful summer temperatures, we've got the windows open. I'm not the only one that's happy about that!
He's a little skittish, but he comes up on the porch when I'm sitting in my lawn chair. I feed him popcorn and strawberry tops. Once in a while, he brings a friend. The other one isn't quite as tame, but we'll get there!
